What to Do On Valentine’s Day in Boston!

If it weren’t for Valentine’s Day in Boston, February would be a little dull. Sure, we just had Super Bowl parties, and then we have Mardi Gras, and this year, we even have Leap Year! But due to the drab weather and the hope for spring, Valentine’s Day in Boston sure comes at the right time!

As your Boston real estate agent, I recommend that you take some time out of your busy home-selling or home-buying projects to make plans for this romantic holiday. Whether you celebrate over the weekend or the actual day of, with a significant other or with friends, you deserve a fun time!

Here are eight events happening around Boston for Valentine’s Day:

· Boston didn’t forget about the kids! Bring them to their own Valentine’s Day party tomorrow at Hill House Boston. From 3 to 6 p.m., they can enjoy decorating cookies, making Valentine-themed arts and crafts, and receiving face painting from Pizzazz the Clown.

· Surround yourself with the sounds of Justin Timberlake, even it isn’t really him. At the Hard Rock Café on Friday, local Timberlake tributes will perform, along with East Coast Soul, playing tunes by Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson. This event begins at 8 p.m. and costs $12 for admission. It’s for those ages 21 and up.

· If you’re single this Valentine’s Day, but wish you had a special someone, head to the Flat Iron Tapas Bar & Lounge for a speed dating mixer by Single Ladies Café. This will include live musical performances, champagne, a buffet, and speed dating, of course. This event begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, costs $35 and is open to those above the age of 21.

· Not one for the mushy gushy stuff? Enjoy date night at Mottley’s, where comedic acts centered around Valentine’s Day take place on Saturday night. Mike Dorval will perform “Trials of Love,” which covers all matters of the heart, including those of the couples in the audience. Dorval will actually bring some couples on stage to talk about love issues! This event begins at 8 p.m., costs $20 and is for those ages 21 and up.

· No matter what time of year it is, Boston always looks beautiful from Boston Harbor. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with your valentine aboard the Spirit of Boston, where you’ll enjoy a special Valentine’s dinner, along with dancing, a ride around Boston Harbor and a champagne toast. This special cruise takes place on Saturday evening, beginning at 6:30 p.m., and it costs $99.90 per person.

· Take Valentine’s Day to a whole new level at Boston’s 2nd annual Valentine’s Day Ball at the Cambridge Performing Arts Center. You arrive, register and enjoy Hors d’ouevres. Then you relax and listen to the sounds of the Boston String Quartet, then enjoy dinner from East Coast Grill, then enjoy dessert and ballroom dancing until 1 a.m. This is available Friday night or Valentine’s night at 6:30 p.m.

· If Valentine’s Day is your chance to really relax, unwind and take the time to enjoy a meal, why not go all out? At the Hampshire House, you can do just that at their “Dining in the Dark” event. At this meal, you place a blindfold over your eyes and enjoy a dinner with a heightened sense of taste, touch, scent and sound.
