Oktoberfest Celebrations in Boston, MA!

October has arrived here in Boston, MA, and with it, a plethora of fall festivals and activities! To see a full lineup of fall events here in Boston, check out my Boston Events page.

One of the most popular types of events this month is Oktoberfest celebrations. This is an annual event that evolved in Germany, and usually has a Bavarian flair to it. With German food, drinks and music, these celebrations are sure to make you feel cheerful, not matter what your ethnicity.

Luckily, there are plenty of opportunities to partake in an Oktoberfest celebration around Boston this month. As your Boston real estate agent, I’ve put together this collection:
  • The Paulaner Oktoberfest Biergarten will be open this weekend, Oct. 5 and 6, from noon to 6 p.m. each day. Stop by Olde Magoun’s Saloon for an Oktoberfest that you won’t soon forget. In fact, they are bringing in an 18-wheeler truck that is outfitted with taps each filled with German beers. They’ll also have a tent, picnic tables, music and authentic German food to enjoy with your beer.
  • Harpoon Octoberfest takes place Oct. 4 and 5 in Boston, MA! Stop by Harpoon Brewery between 5:30 and 11 p.m. on Friday and between 2 and 9 p.m. on Saturday. Octoberfest was the first festival the brewery ever threw back in 1990, so it’s nostalgic value brings in many Boston residents! Enjoy sipping on special beers, chewing bratwursts, watching or joining chicken dances, partaking or watching German chocolate cake-eating contests, clapping along to oompah music and more.
  • Really spice things up this year by participating in the Oktoberfest 5K in Cambridge on Sunday morning! Meet at Kendall Square at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, preferably dressed in lederhosen or dirndl, the traditional Bavarian garments. You could win a prize for best costume! Registration includes a race shirt, plus food and beverages at the post-race Oktoberfest party.
  • Harvard Square’s 35th Annual Oktoberfest and HONK! Parade will take place Sunday, Oct. 13 from noon to 6 p.m. During this time, you can enjoy a parade, live music, dancing, beer gardens, street performers, arts and crafts, sidewalk sales and more. Of course, it will also include lots of German food and beer to enjoy, all while street bands take to Boston streets as part of the HONK! Festival. This is definitely not an Oktoberfest to miss!
